on the west bank of the Tiber River, consists of St. Peter's Basilica, the circular St. Peter's

The Basilica of St. Peter was built on the tomb of St Peter the Apostle, and the first large
basilica was built by Constantine the Great in the 4th century.
Rebuilding started in 1506, being designed by Bramante, Raphael, Michelangelo, Maderna and Bernini.
The basilica was consecrated in 1626.
