Porta Nigra, Trier, Germany

Trier was founded in 16 BC under Caesar Augustus as "Augusta Treverorum" and it is the oldest city in Germany. At the end of the 3rd century it became one of the capitals of the Tetrarchy. Trier became the second Rome, with many important monuments; several of them have survived until the present day.
