= Zoom in  = Zoom out

The rock carvings in Tanum were made on granite bedrock which were scraped when the ice cap moved northwards after the last ice age, leaving curved rock faces exposed. The carvings date from the Bronze Age, a period that began in 1.500 BC. There are at least 1.500 sites where carvings are found, having various motifs, like representations of humans, animals, weapons, boats and other subjects.
