The Pont du Gard, built in the 1st century, is part of the 50 km long Roman aqueduct from the springs near Uzes to the castellum divisorium (water tower) in Nîmes.
The bridge, with three rows of arches, is built on the valley over the Gardon River, has a height of 49 meters and a length of 275 meters on the top.
