The Amphitheatre of El Jem was built in the 3rd century in the ancient Roman town of Thysdrus. Built in elliptical form on a plain area, it is 162 meters long, 118 meters wide, and has a circumference of 427 meters. It is the largest Roman amphitheatre in North Africa.
