The Palace of Justice, built between 1866 and 1883, was designed by the architect Joseph Poelaert (1817-1879) in eclectic style.
The monumental building, made of iron and stone, has a length of 186 meters, a width of 177 meters and height of 116 meters, and is one of the largest buildings built in the 19th century.
