Augustusburg, Bruhl, Germany

The Augustusburg Castle was built in the 18th century and is a Rococo masterpiece. Of special interest is the staircase designed by Balthasar Neumann. The castle was commissioned by the archbishop of Cologne Clemens August of Wittelsbach. The baroque garden was created according to French tradition. Nearby lies the hunting lodge Falkenlust on the edge of a little forest.
