Chartres Cathedral, France

= Zoom in  = Zoom out

Construction of the current cathedral in High Gothic style began in 1145, being reconstructed after a fire between 1194 and 1220. The well-preserved cathedral is remarkable for its size and proportions, the almost two hundred stained glass windows with their particular blue color, and the porches with their fine sculptures.
